    websites
My favorite websites were Alex Lewis', Claire Tagini's, and Charles Houston's. They all had really cool design layouts and were easy and fun to follow. Alex Lewis' was awesome how he showed us all around his house through pictures that we could interact with. Claire Tagini's website had beautiful pictures, and I really feel like I got to know her friends, family, and background better through it. I liked Charles Houston's way of showing how he loved basketball and his images were all very neat to look at. Plase visit my website at:

This game was pretty cute. I did alright on it, but I probably should have studied a little more before taking it. It is important to know about HTML coding in making websites so you can format it exactly how you want it to be. It will help the basic layout and design of the website.

I left comments for Hayley Richardson, Michael Hertsen, and Alex Lewis.

I really liked Alex Lewis' presentation on economics. I do not usually like economics but he made it interesting and humorous. He also had a lot of thorough information in his presentation. Hayley Richardson's presentation over business and accounting was also good. She kept the audience entertained and had a lot of good effects and sounds. The only thing I would suggest on hers is to be a little louder. Lastly, I liked Allison Peasely's powerpoint over english and education. She included a sound clip that I really liked. The background of her presentation also tied together her whole powerpoint. It was very well organized.

I thought these points were very good and thorough in how to make a good slide show. I disagree on the point of not making bullets, because I think bullets make it more organized. I liked the oral presentation points. They help to know how to keep the audience focused and listen to what you are saying. I also like the idea of not including a lot of clip art but instead using real photos. I do not agree with the idea of not using dissolves or other transitions. I think they should be used at minimal but sometimes it is more enjoyable to watch.
    My own advice
    1. Do not use complete sentences
    2. Use real pictures instead of a lot of clip art
    3. Put in some sound if possible
    4. Make it colorful, but not hard to read
    5. BE ORGANIZED!

    excel
I have learned so much more in excel. I learned how to set the formulas so that you use the same number on each formula using F4, how to do autosum and all the formulas under that, and also how to format the cells to conditional. I was able to use excel when I needed to make a list of people in my sorority to figure out financial information for each person. It will be very useful in the future to use for Gammas. This shows me how it will be in business fields, especially in math or financial jobs.

    Search Engines
Today in class we learned about search engines, specifically Google. I learned several things including the way search engines categorize and rate their searched pages is by the amount of times the key search words occur in the page and where in the page it occurs. Christopher W. Nolan's lecture really helped me know how to get better search results and limit my search criteria.

In MS Word I have learned several new things. You can make a drop cap, to make the first letter of the paragraph bigger than the rest. This is located under format. You can also use the highlighting icon on the tool bar to make the font the same on words when you highlight them. If you want to make an endnote, go to insert, reference, footnote, and then change it to endnote. Then you can cite it at the end of the paper. These have been very helpful to use in other papers for other classes!

    Computer Safety
In class on Tuesday, I learned that doing automatic updates is the most critical thing to do on your computer. I chose this as the most important thing I learned from Joe Hatch because whenever I get a request of doing an update on my computer I usually just click 'tell me later' or 'no' when this is really a very good thing to pay attention to. It will help in running the computer better and ensuring the safety of it.

    Microsoft Word
I use Microsoft Word for the most part on assignments and papers. I understand the menu bar, taskbar, and task pane. I am a fairly fast typer so the keyboard layout is not new to me. I almost always save my papers to my documents and rarely ever use the Y drive. However, I would like to become more familiar with the Y drive because I think it is a better idea to save it there, in case of any computer failures. In editing a document, I have never used the formatting marks, but this seems interesting and helpful to use. The thesaurus is like my best friend on Word! I love using it when I am stuck on new words to use in a paper. I would like to go over how to use hyperlinks in class because I do not understand how to insert them and check them. Basically everything else in these two chapters I understand quite well. I use Microsoft Word a lot and am very familiar with it.

    Copyright
Today we learned many interesting facts about copyrighting and all that it has been done in society recently to update copyright laws. I found it interesting that there is a protection on material that is spontaneously used. As I understood it, if a professor wants to use material that is copyrighted he/she can do so without any fear of copyright infringement if they spontaneously decide to use it and give it out to students. Also under the "free use" policy, the public can utilize material not owned by him or her if they are simply commentating or criticizing it. I am most interested in music copyrights as it is becoming more and more prominent in our society. Although it is much faster and easier to gain music from file sharing, it greatly hurts the producer and artist of the music. We need to enforce stricter rules on file sharing or else it will simply grow to be a bigger problem.

    About Me
Hey guys! My name is Ashley Davis and I live in Houston, Texas. I have lived there all my life and I have one older sister who recently got married! Houston is a great home town, but it's also nice to be able to get away! In high school I was captain of my dance team and was involved in gymnastics until I was a sophomore. Dance is my ultimate passion and I am currently on Trinity's Prowlers dance team. Besides dance I love to go the beach, but the nearest one, Galveston, Texas is not the best beach, as it is full of mud for sand and water that you can not even see your feet in the shallow areas. I love hip hop and country music, italian food-can't get enough of Olive Garden's salad and bread-sticks, The OC, making cookies, watching movies, and playing frisbee!

I have not had much computer background, besides a typing class in middle school, but that does not really count...I guess that is why I'm in this class! Word is pretty much the thing I know best, but I don't really understand all hard drives and computer technicalities.

Anyways, I hope everyone had a great winter break!!

In case you might need it, my email is: Ashley Davis
